| John passed to the grand lodge above on the afternoon of Saturday 5th November 2022. | |
| He had suffered serious health issues for many months and was in Furness General Hospital when he died peacefully in his sleep. |  |
| John was advanced into The Furness Mark Lodge No 36. He became WM and later received provincial grand rank the latest being that of Past Provincial Grand Senior Warden. | |
| He is past WM of Philadelphia Lodge of Installed Mark Masters. | |
| He was a member of Adoniram Mark Lodge. | |
| John was a past Commander of Furness RAM and also Philadelphia Lodge of RAM Installed Commanders. | |
| In the Allied Masonic Degree he is a past WM of the Thomas Firth Jackson Council. | |
| John was initiated into freemasonry at Baldwin Lodge in Dalton in Furness and was exalted into the Baldwin Chapter. He reached the principal offices in those orders. | |
| He is past WM of the Lonsdale Lodge of Installed Masters. | |
He was also a past Sovereign of Lakeland Chapter Rose Croix and had been promoted to the 31st degree. |

| He was the treasurer for many of the lodges and also the treasurer for the group fellowship which meets in Barrow in Furness. | |
| A gentleman and stalwart of many lodges he will be missed by his many Masonic friends. | |
| Rest in Peace John, you have earned your rest. | |
